A fair virtual coin toss

Can’t find a coin? This online coin flip gives you heads or tails with a satisfying 3D toss. Each flip is decided by your browser’s cryptographic random generator, giving an exact 50/50 chance – unlike a real coin, it cannot be weighted, worn or flipped with a practiced thumb.

The statistics panel counts heads and tails, shows the percentages and your current streak. Use the bulk buttons to flip 10, 100 or 1,000 coins at once and watch the results settle close to 50% – a nice way to show the law of large numbers in class.

How to use

  1. Tap the coin or press Flip.
  2. Watch the toss – the result appears as Heads or Tails.
  3. Check the statistics for totals, percentages and the current streak.
  4. Use Flip 10 / 100 / 1000 for quick experiments.
  5. Press Reset to start counting again.

Frequently asked questions

Is the online coin flip fair?

Yes. Each flip has exactly a 50% chance of heads and 50% of tails, generated with the Web Crypto API. Previous results never influence the next flip.

Why did I get tails five times in a row?

Streaks are normal. The chance of five tails in a row is 1 in 32 for any given five flips, so over many flips streaks appear regularly.

Can a coin land on its edge?

Real coins very rarely can; this virtual coin always lands on heads or tails.

What do the bulk flip buttons do?

They flip 10, 100 or 1,000 coins instantly and add the results to your statistics, so you can see the share of heads approach 50%.
