A quick, fair way to pick names from a list
The Random Name Picker chooses one or more names from any list you paste – a class register, a team, raffle entrants or a list of chores. Every pick uses your browser’s cryptographic random number generator, so each name has exactly the same chance.
Need several winners? Set how many names to draw and the picker selects them without repeats in a single go. Turn on “remove picked names” and the chosen names leave the list, so the next round only includes people who have not been picked yet.
Your list stays in your browser for next time. Nothing is uploaded or stored on a server.
How to use
- Type or paste names into the box – one name per line.
- Choose how many names you want to pick.
- Press Pick. The result appears in large letters, easy to read on a projector.
- Optional: turn on remove picked names so nobody is chosen twice across rounds.
- Use the history to see every pick with its time, or copy the results.
Ideas for using it
- Classroom. choose who answers, who reads aloud or which group presents first.
- Raffles and giveaways. draw several winners at once from a pasted list of entrants.
- Work. pick a meeting facilitator, a code reviewer or the order of stand-up updates.
- Home. decide who walks the dog, picks the film or gets the front seat.
Name picker or wheel?
Both are equally fair. The name picker is faster and works well with long lists or when you need several names at once. The Spin the Wheel tool adds suspense and is great for a live audience.
