A fair wheel spinner for names, prizes and decisions

Spin the Wheel is a free online wheel of names – also known as a wheel of fortune, prize wheel or decision wheel. Add any options you like, give the wheel a spin and let chance decide. It works on phones, tablets and computers, and you don’t need an account.

Every result is picked with your browser’s cryptographic random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues), not the simpler Math.random used by many older sites. Each entry has exactly the same chance of winning. The spin animation is just for fun – the winner is decided fairly before the wheel stops.

Your list is saved only in your own browser, so it’s still there the next time you visit. Nothing is uploaded to our servers.

How to use

  1. Type or paste your options into the Entries box – one per line. You can add names, numbers, prizes, tasks or anything else.
  2. Optionally give the wheel a title and pick a color theme in the settings.
  3. Press Spin, click the wheel or hit the Space key.
  4. When the wheel stops, the winner appears on screen. Choose Remove to take it off the wheel, or spin again.
  5. Use Fullscreen to show the wheel on a classroom projector, TV or live stream.

Ideas for using it

  • Classroom. pick a student to answer, choose who presents first or pick a reward for the class.
  • Giveaways and raffles. paste the names of participants and pick a winner live on stream.
  • Team meetings. decide who runs the stand-up, takes notes or picks the next lunch spot.
  • Party games. spin for truth or dare, chores, fun challenges or who goes next.
  • Everyday decisions. what to eat, which movie to watch or where to go this weekend.

Tips for using the wheel in class or on stream

  • Remove the winner automatically to make sure every student gets a turn before anyone is picked twice.
  • Turn on fullscreen – the wheel scales to the whole screen and stays readable from the back of the room.
  • Use Share wheel to send a link with your list to a colleague. The list is stored in the link itself, not on our servers.
  • Keep your class lists: the wheel remembers your last list in this browser.

Frequently asked questions

Is the wheel really random?

Yes. The winner is chosen with the Web Crypto API (crypto.getRandomValues), a cryptographically secure random number generator built into your browser. Every entry has exactly the same chance, and the result can’t be predicted or influenced.

Is Spin the Wheel free?

Yes, it’s completely free and needs no sign-up. The site is supported by ads, which never cover the wheel.

Are my names saved or sent anywhere?

Your entries are saved only in your browser’s local storage so they’re there when you come back. They are never sent to our servers. You can clear them at any time with the Clear button.

How many entries can I add?

Up to 1,000 entries. With very long lists the labels get small, so for big giveaways you may also like our giveaway picker (coming soon).

Can I remove a name after it has been picked?

Yes. Press Remove in the result window, or turn on Remove winner after each spin in the settings to do it automatically.

Can I give one option a bigger chance?

Add the same option on several lines. For example, “Pizza” written twice has twice the chance of “Sushi” written once.

Does it work on a projector or in OBS?

Yes. Press Fullscreen for a clean, large wheel. For streams you can capture the browser window in OBS or any other streaming software.
